40 lakh families benefited by Modi's welfare schemes

In the last leg of hectic campaigning, the BJP leadership is back to the basics along with the carpet bombing by the PM and other top leaders by wooing the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes launched by PM Modi. According to the data bank of these beneficiaries, there are nearly 40 lakh households in Karnataka who have benefited from these schemes. These families have got a house under the PM Awaas Yogna, a toilet, power, water, cooking gas, health insurance cover and free food-grains. These benefits are other than what the state government offers under its own schemes.

As per the list, one lakh houses have been constructed under the PM Awas, 2.4 crores under the PM Anna Yogna and 54 lakh farmers under the PM-Kisan. New water connections have been given to 43 lakh houses and free gas connections under the Ujjawala scheme. The MNREGAS to help rural unemployment is also in existence. The BJP's data bank has details of these 40 lakh families and it has deputed a “Panna Pramukh” (Page In-charge) to touch base with each one of them in his jurisdiction. The BJP has appointed a committee of 4 workers under each Panna Pramukhs to personally contact each beneficiary and seek votes for the party. Each page contains around 40-45 voters. The BJP claims that nearly one crore out of 5.21 crores voters in Karnataka have directly benefited under the centrally funded schemes.

The BJP leadership claims that it has created a new caste system i.e. beneficiaries who adore Modi for taking care of them. The BJP leadership is looking for at least 5% extra votes compared to 2018 Assembly polls when it polled 36.35% votes and won 104 seats out of 224. The Congress polled 38.14% votes but could obtain 80 seats only.
